flydubai has released the following statement explaining that it is delaying the launch dates of its Dubai - India flights:

'Dubai, UAE, 10 July 2009: Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said: “flydubai had planned to begin operations to India with flights (from Dubai) to Lucknow on July 13, Coimbatore on July 14 and Chandigarh on July 23, however, due to operational issues, we have had to delay these flights.

“We understand that this is very inconvenient for the passengers who have booked flights with us to India and we apologise for the disruption and disappointment caused.

“All passengers who have booked flights to India will be contacted within the next few days and will be given a full refund, plus a voucher for a free return flight to India or anywhere on the flydubai network, which will be valid for travel until the end of November 2009.

“India remains an important market for us and we will make an announcement in the very near future on when our flights to the region will begin.”

Message on flydubai website

flydubai has had to delay the start of flights between Dubai and Chandigarh, Lucknow and Coimbatore (India). A new start date will be announced soon.

If you’ve booked and paid for your flight to India this is what will happen.

For bookings made through the flydubai website, call centre or Emirates Post

If you’ve paid for your booking using a credit card you will receive a full refund, including taxes to the original credit card used. This can take up to 14 days from the date when the refund is processed.

If you have paid for your booking using cash at Emirates Post, UAE Exchange or any of Emirates NBD’s electronic payment facilities the full amount of your booking plus any payment charges will be refunded to you by cheque. You can choose to have the cheque sent to a postal address (post office box) or you can collect it from our sales office at Dubai International Airport – Terminal 2. You will be asked by the flydubai call centre as to your preference. If you choose to collect a cheque from the sales office at the airport you will be given a collection time and date.

You will also be provided with a complimentary flydubai voucher. This can be exchanged for return travel to any of flydubai’s destinations. Travel must be completed by 30 November 2009. You will be asked to pay for the taxes and any extras you choose. Seats will be subject to availability.

For bookings made through a travel agent

If you’ve booked and paid for your journey at a travel agent; you should contact the same travel agent to get a refund.

You will also be provided with a complimentary flydubai voucher. This can be exchanged for return travel to any of flydubai’s destinations. Travel must be completed by 30 November 2009. You will be asked to pay for the taxes and any extras you choose. Seats will be subject to availability.
